Spring Maintenance

Published: March 05, 2021

Spring is right around the corner. Since we all just lived through a tough week of freezing temperatures and snow, the thought of warm weather is something that we are all looking forward to!

As spring approaches, please take some time to evaluate your property and make sure it is in compliance with the community standards. Spring rain and warm weather means that it is the beginning of the growing season in North Texas.

Now is a good time to fertilize, which will help with your efforts to keep your yard and neighborhood neat and well maintained. Treatment of your lawn issues now, such as weeds in the lawn, beds, and shrubs, with the appropriate chemical treatments will minimize future lawn issues in the coming months. Information and the correct applications for your yard can be found at your local garden center, landscaper, or landscape nursery.

Please remember to remove weeds and tall grasses from your lawn, flower beds, tree rings, and parkways (between the sidewalk and the street). Edging your lawn around the sidewalk, walkway to your home, and along the driveway will provide a well-manicured appearance. Please note that if your home is located on a corner, you are responsible for all areas along the street on your side of the lot, in addition to the front of your home.

Community Standards

1.     Before you begin any modifications to the exterior of your home or lot, you must submit for and receive written approval from the Architectural Committee.
2.     Replacement of dead or missing trees must be approved by the Architectural Committee. (Please review the approved tree list from the Town of Little Elms website)
3.     Trash bins must be stored on the side of the home and pulled back from the driveway. Trash bins are not allowed to be left in the driveway or at the front of the home.
4.     Fences should be maintained in good condition. Broken and missing boards must be replaced, trim boards replaced. Fences must be stained using a uniform approved stain color, and may not be faded.
5.     Bulk trash may not be placed out at the curb or in view from the street before 5:00 PM the day before the scheduled pickup.
